DNR Holds MFL Hearings

One Response to “DNR Holds MFL Hearings”

I have 82 acres in MFL in Lafayette County. 77 acres in MFL and 5 that are not. I wanted to put the additional 5 into the program and build a cabin. My DNR forester gave me the cabin criteria (i.e., criteria that has to be met to have land in MFL) and I followed it to perfection. Upon completion I was told that since I built the cabin before I put the additional 5 acres in MFL, that I can no longer put the 1 acre the cabin sits on in MFL. What a bunch of BS. If I would have put the 5 acres in MFL first, then built the cabin, I would be OK. This law needs to change and be retroactive such that what was represented to me can actually be done.
